Stolzeneck Castle

Krösselbachweg, 74867 Eberbach

Stolzeneck Castle is the ruins of a hilltop castle above the Neckar near Eberbach in Baden-Württemberg. Built around 1200, the castle was given to servants of the Counts Palatine as an Electoral Palatinate fiefdom from 1284.

The castle and the associated castle hamlet of Krösselbach were abandoned after 1610. The ruins of Stolzeneck are located around 2 km south of the Eberbach suburb of Rockenau, just within the boundaries of the neighboring municipality of Neunkirchen, on a 215 m above sea level rocky spur at the sharp mouth of a small gorge in a hillside stream, which rises around 80 meters to the left above the Neckar running northwards here. The small spur plateau is now wooded.
