The Neckarsteig Hirschhorn-Eberbach stage runs for 11.5 km mainly through mixed woodland. The tour is very suitable for hot summer days as it runs mainly in the shade of the forest.

Hirschhorn with its beautiful old town is well worth a visit. If you start early, you should note that the castle only opens its doors at seven o‘clock and closes again at 5:30 pm. The Hoppe refuge with a view of the Neckar valley invites you to take a break. There is a beautiful view of Hirschhorn through a path in the forest. The Stone Table was built in 1797 as a resting place for hunting parties. At that time, the view of Hirschhorn Castle was still unobstructed.

The Neckarsteig trail takes you around the Tannenkopf mountain. The Gretengrund, a stream running parallel to the Gammelsbach valley, offers plenty of shade on hot summer days. The "Waldklassenzimmer" (forest classroom) initiative has set up shop there and serves as a "base" for kindergartens, schools and clubs to experience and learn about the forest.

A beautifully situated path above the railroad line offers views of the Neckar and the beautiful town of Eberbach, right on the Neckar. In Eberbach, you have the opportunity to watch the Neckar boats and excursion boats in the park running parallel to the riverside road or to admire the impressive bronze sculptures. The entire stage is characterized by old trees.

Anfahrt mit dem PKW

Der Odenwald liegt im Dreiländereck Baden-Württemberg, Hessen und Bayern. Mit der S-Bahn und dem DB-Regionalverkehr sind es von Karlsruhe, Mannheim, Heidelberg und Heilbronn weniger als 1 Stunde Fahrzeit in den Odenwald. Mit dem Auto ist der Odenwald über die A 81 Würzburg-Heilbronn oder die A 6 Nürnberg-Heidelberg zu erreichen.

Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel

Anreise mit der DB nach Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof. Von da aus mit der S-Bahn (Neckartalbahn) zum S-Bahnhof Hirschhorn.

 Parken: Hirschhorn und Eberbach am Neckarufer.
