The varied route takes you through the Margaretenschlucht gorge and along the Neckar.

The tour starts at Neckargerach train station. The route initially follows the Neckarsteig trail and leads you out of Neckargerach onto the access path to the Margaretenschlucht gorge. You follow the path into the gorge and cross it.

 

The gorge is marked as a via ferrata. Sturdy footwear and surefootedness are required. After the gorge, NG 5 continues to follow the Neckarsteig trail. Past the Eisenbusch, the trail descends slightly to the Rotenberg. At the next junction, the Neckarsteig turns left. However, NG 5 runs slightly to the right.

 

Follow the path until it meets the Neckarrandweg on the right. Turn right here. Follow the Neckarrandweg for a while until the NG 5 leads you to the left. Cross the railroad tracks and follow the path downhill to the Neckar. Cross the river at the Guttenbach barrage and then bear right. The NG 5 now joins the Neckar valley cycle path and follows the course of the Neckar loop into Guttenbach.

 

The path leads you through the village towards the Neckar bridge, where you cross the river again. In the center of Neckargerach, turn right onto Friedhofstraße, which will take you back to the starting point in Bahnhofstraße.
